The Abattoir of Dreams Mark Tilbury Books
I’m a huge fan of Mark Tilbury’s books, and this is no exception. From the very start, the author does a fantastic job of building suspense. We’re taken on Michael’s journey as he struggles to remember his life and come to terms with his past. What really stuck out to me was the magnificent way the author played with my emotions. While it was hard to keep reading at times due to the subject matter (child abuse), I wanted to find out what happened next bad enough to keep turning the pages. I became so engrossed in Michael’s story that I wanted to find out what happened to him that put him in the hospital, and what the future held for him. I also have to admit, the biggest reason I loved this book was that the villains were so well written, I wanted to push through to see what happened to them. Some characters are just meant to have a horrible end.
I’ve noticed flashes of my favorite author, Stephen King, in Mr. Tilbury’s other books, but this one, I think, is on par with many of Mr. King’s works. In true King fashion, I was reminded of the occasional stories I’ve read about atrocities committed in foster homes and other institutions, and it helped to bring the story to life in a way that many often fail to do. This story stuck with me for a while, and I doubt I’ll ever forget it.
There are few books out there that deliver the same kind of punch as The Abattoir of Dreams, and that puts this book and the author into the stratosphere, in my opinion.

The Abattoir of Dreams Mark Tilbury Books Reviews
This book has a little of everything that can happen between human beings, and a good ending to boot.
I did enjoy the story but it's very dark. Sad and disturbing. Not for everyone.
You need to buy this and read it NOW, whether it's on sale or not!
The best story I've read in a long time!
It both shocked and warmed my heart. It's Poignant, horrific and thrilling.
This is the best book I’ve read all year. It’s filled with confronting dark scenes, but the author is so skilled, I couldn’t tear my eyes away. Off to check out his other works now.
Fantastic story that I just could not stop reading
The author expertly brought the reader back to the past history of the boys and I felt as I was there in the past and then to the present. A new author for me and I will read as many of his books as I can. Just excellent!
This has been on my for about a year. What the heck is wrong with me, waiting this long to get to it? A cracking read, dark and haunting. If you can't empathize with protagonist, Michael, you should check for a pulse. Aspects of this story will be difficult to read, but well worth the journey. Michael's past is revealed in creative fashion. Highly recommended.
When I first started this book, I thought the story was going in a different direction. I have to say I was delighted with where the author took the story. It is a psychological thriller, but more than that, This is the story of Michael Tate and the life he lived. Not one that anyone would like to go through. The story is told through Michael's memories as he gets some help from an unusual outside source, I won't reveal in this review. Just say it is well worth grabbing and the story is a well told adventure of life, hardship and love through unusual and difficult circumstances. The story is well written by an author whose other works I have also enjoyed. Thanks to the author for taking readers on this incredible journey.
